Symposium 2010 Another Success

From April 21 to 23, more than 320 people gathered at the Gaylord Palms Resort, in Orlando, Fla., to network, pick up new strategies, and energize their customer acquisition programs during our Annual Symposium.

Alan Friesen, President and CEO, began Symposium with a State of the Union address focused on the forces shaping banking today: record-low interest rates, asset deterioration, negative customer perceptions and additional regulations. To confront these and other challenges, he suggested banks make acquiring and keeping customers a priority, find additional revenue sources, maximize fee income, and increase fee income through debit-card activations strategies.

While the State of the Union assessed the present condition of banking, and glimpsed its future, keynote speaker Chip Bell offered a humorous, fresh take on a timeless topic: attracting and keeping customers. In Delivering Exceptional Customer Service, Bell offered excerpts from his latest book, Take Their Breath Away, and observed it was no longer enough to add value, but now businesses had to “be value unique."

Informed and energized, attendees devoted the rest of Symposium to strategy planning and brainstorming in 18 small group breakout sessions.
